IMGP0492We are a group of people in and around Weymouth and Portland who want to create a more resilient, locally-based life-style. We support and encourage local people to be practical and positive in their response to current issues such as climate and ecological emergency. We accept that campaigning can help change attitudes in national or local government and other organisations, but the emphasis of the Transition Towns movement is to provide practical action at a grass-root level.

How to get involved

We are a small group – in particular the number of committed organisers is small. So be prepared to do it yourself – if we are not doing something perhaps you could start it!

To receive our newsletter contact our  David Smith on 01305 815965 or dhs658@hotmail.co.uk If you want to join the Steering Group and come to our meetings phone Mairi Kershaw (vice Chair of TTWP) on 07807 583829 and she can tell you about the next meeting and place you on the relevant contact list.

Other local groups include:

Sustainable Dorset, (an operating name of the charity, Dorset Agenda 21), which has a website at http://www.sustainabledorset.org.uk/ and has links to many other local organisations.

Our nearest neighbours are Transition Town Dorchester at http://www.transitiontowndorchester.org/.

We used to link to local Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth groups, but they would appear to have closed, though GreenPeace still has a group in Bournemouth. Do please let us know if you know any more.

We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (type of charity) no. 1162053
